I live in San Diego and I'm absolutely spoiled when it comes to Golf. A group of 4 us played Clifton Park last Saturday and was pleasantly pleased with the shape of the course. Greens were nice, fairways nice. It's a muni and the oldest golf course in Baltimore. What do you expect? Yes, it cuts through a couple bad neighborhoods (one only I think) but I play golf at Tijuana Country Club, doesn't get much more dangerous than that! I wasn't scared one bit! Overall we left very pleased with our experience at Clifton Park.

I stopped in for a FREE short game clinic - chipping and putting. The course's pro and staff were offering a demonstration on several short game techniques plus fun practice exercises. The Pro was pleasant and brief with the demonstration. He made sure we got all the info and still made himself available for questions. A group of 17 of us were able to watch and then practice our skills in a series of fun challenges to test our skills. It was a fun 2 hours on the area where the Juniors get to practice - a $500k playing ground.

The roads leading to the course and club house were not well marked and a little confusing. You can see that some of the buildings in the park were once glorious structures. This is a busy park with cars playing loud music and people flowing in and out. If you want a quiet place to play, it might not be the place.

Don't go unless you're packing. It's in a horrible neighborhood and I felt unsafe the whole time. The only reason I went was because it was winter and a lot of courses aren't open. After being there 5 minutes, I was wishing I just went to the range. The first hole tees off alongside a busy road, with no fence or barrier of any kind. They even have an attendant there that watches your bags for you as you go in the pro shop, to make sure no one steals them. The course is riddled with school kids wandering through randomly. You should probably avoid this place. Try Carrol Park instead if you're looking for a cheap round somewhere. Carrol Park isn't Augusta, but you don't risk your life going there....usually.
